Week 7 2021 Recap

Week 7 Recap: Lady Luck spurns the Ducks, while SWAB march on

After a week that saw a flurry of questionable trades, the KFL returned to action with an interesting slate of games. The snake bitten Ducks met the injury bitten Bluecats in the most exciting battle of the week. Once again, the Ducks fell despite putting up 104 points and having an 83% probability to win thanks to Alvin Karama’s big Monday night. The Ducks fall to 1-6 and look to play the role of playoff spoiler from here on out.

SWAB pulled off another impressive victory over the Tenderloins and move to 6-1 thanks to another breakout rookies Jamaar Chase and Kyle Pitts. The Warriors got their second win on the season after having a full on fire sale of their team. They might also want to thank the NFL schedulers as the Sunday Winners were hard hit during bye-maggedon and will look to get back on track next week. The Sunday Winners have a dominant team, but at this point it will be interesting to see if they can overcome their slow start

The Supermarket Studs were one of the big winners of the trade bonanza, but didn’t need the help as the Titans put up a measly 49 points. Meanwhile, the Onionheads beat the Kraken to make the Glum division a tight race. To wrap the week up, The Slugs enjoyed an easy match up against the GMO’s who are sputtering at the bottom of their division with the Warriors.

Expected Wins power rankings through week 7

We have a new expected wins leader in the SWAB at 4.8. The Kraken, Supermarket Studs, and Sunday Winners are hot on SWAB’s tail at 4.5 expected wins and these four franchises look to be seperating themselves from the pack at the mid-season mark. Below them, the Tenderloins and Slugs sit at 4.3 expected wins fighting to keep relevance in their highly competitive divisions.

The Unlucky Ducks are living up to their names with only 1 win despite 4.2 expected wins on the season. The -3.2 wins over expected is the largest gap we’ve seen since 2018 and they are well on pace to smash the previous record of -2.6 expected wins on a season.

Ruwe’s Onionheads have opened up a gap on the Titans at the top of the Glum division (4.1 vs 3.5 expected wins) while the GMO’s and Warriors battle at the bottom with 2.8 expected wins in joint ownership of worst in the league. To round us out, the Bluecats sit where they can expect to be at 3 wins, just a shade under the 3.3 expected wins and certainly viewing every week from here on out as a must win scenario.

Standings through Week 7

The standings through week 7 show a dominate SWAB team lead by JaMarr Chase, Pitts, and a pair of Packers at the top of the table with a 6-1 record. The Slugs continue to keep pace in the Ohio division at 5-2 and open a gap between the 3-4 Bluecats and Sunday Winners. The Sunday Winners have a dominant roster, but also a tough hill to climb for what will likely be a highly competitive wild card again this year.

The Supermarket Studs roll on with a continuation of their 4 game winning streak as this historically bad franchise is looking to make a new name for themselves in the KFL. The Unlucky Ducks sit at the bottom of the table with a 1-6 record and given their tough division will likely be dreaming of next year. The Kraken’s stranglehold on the Indiana Division has slipped as they now fall to second place and will look to right the ship next week.

In the Glum Division, the GMO’s are sputtering having lost 5 of their last 6 while the Warriors get the win and the brothers are tied at 2-5. At the top of the division we have a pair of unconvincing 4-3 teams in the Titans and Onionheads. Are we heading for another 4 way tie of 7-7 teams in the Glum division?
